The largest home battery is not automatically the best choice. For example, a household with solar panels and limited evening consumption has a different storage need than a home with a heat pump and an electric vehicle.
In doing so, we look not only at kWh, the amount of energy the battery can store, but also at kW, the rate at which the battery can charge and discharge. Usable capacity, efficiency, expandability, and the battery management system also determine how well the system performs in practice.

Financing, registration, and installation properly taken care of
Currently, there is no national purchase subsidy available for residential home batteries. However, under certain conditions, a home battery can be financed through the Energy Saving Loan (Energiebespaarlening) from the National Warmtefonds. Conditions include that you already have solar panels or are having them installed at the same time, the battery is connected behind the meter, and the installation is carried out by a certified installer. Under the current terms, a maximum of €8,500 can be financed for a home battery, including installation and additional costs.
From a technical standpoint, a home battery must also be connected correctly. Battery systems with a capacity of 0.8 kW or higher must be registered.
